Everyone knows that dairy products have a very small shelf life. Now milk is pasteurized, which, of course, extends this period. When such technologies did not exist, in particular, in America, and in other countries there was a job for milk workers. These are people who daily transported fresh milk to their homes, because it was not possible to store it in stores for a long time. Now this practice is in demand in the villages where people buy milk from farmers at home, but there is no profession as such - the owners either deliver the product themselves or take buyers at home.
Before modern methods of preservation and cooling became available, milk had to be supplied daily. This was the work of the milkman.
