Chief Power Engineer

1. General characteristics of the profession

A person who organizes technically correct operation and timely repair of energy and environmental equipment and power systems, uninterrupted provision of production of electricity, steam, gas, water and other forms of energy.

2. Official duties

Manages the organization and planning of energy workshops and farms, the development of repair schedules for energy equipment and power networks, plans for the production and consumption of electricity, process fuel, steam, gas, water, compressed air, consumption rates and consumption patterns of all types of energy. Provides drawing up applications and necessary calculations for them for the purchase of power equipment, materials, spare parts, for supplying electric and thermal energy to an enterprise and connecting additional power to power supplying enterprises, developing measures to reduce energy consumption standards, introduce new equipment that contributes to a more reliable, economical and safe operation of power plants, as well as increased productivity. Participates in the development of plans for the future development of energy facilities, plans to improve production efficiency, in the preparation of proposals for reconstruction, technical re-equipment of the enterprise, the introduction of integrated mechanization and automation of production processes, in reviewing projects for the reconstruction and modernization of the company's energy supply systems and its divisions design of new and reconstruction of existing power facilities. Gives opinions on the developed projects, participates in testing and acceptance of power plants and networks for commercial operation. Ensures the protection of underground facilities and communications, organizes an inspection of communications, alarm systems, accounting, control, protection and automation, as well as the timely submission to the bodies carrying out state technical supervision, boilers and vessels operating under pressure. He organizes the development of measures to improve the efficiency of use of fuel and energy resources, the reliability and economy of power plants, prevent accidents, create safe and favorable working conditions during their operation. Supervises compliance with the rules of labor protection and safety, instructions for operation of power plants and the use of power equipment and networks. He concludes contracts with third-party organizations for the supply of electricity, steam, water and other types of energy to the enterprise, and controls their implementation. Organizes storage, accounting of availability and movement of power equipment located at the enterprise, as well as accounting and analysis of energy and fuel consumption, technical and economic indicators of the operation of energy facilities, accidents and their causes. Carries out work on the exchange of experience in the field of operation of power equipment, economy and rational use of fuel and energy resources, contributes to the achievement of high rates of operation of power plants. It provides for the improvement of the organization of labor in the areas of the energy sector, the certification and rationalization of workplaces, the introduction of new progressive methods of repair and operation of power equipment. Gives conclusions on rationalization proposals and inventions relating to the improvement of energy equipment and energy supply, organizes the implementation of accepted proposals. Supervises employees of the department and departments of the enterprise engaged in energy services for production, organizes work to improve the skills of workers.
