Chief Designer

1. General characteristics of the profession

The person in charge of creating new and modernizing the designs of products (complexes, machines, devices, instruments, mechanisms) of existing production.

2. Official duties

Takes measures to accelerate the development in the production of promising design developments, the latest materials, the widespread introduction of scientific and technological achievements. He organizes the development of projects of new experimental and industrial installations, non-standard equipment and devices in connection with the reconstruction of facilities, production automation and mechanization of labor-intensive processes. Carries out work to improve the level of unification, standardization and certification of the developed product designs. Ensures that new and modernized structures comply with technical specifications, standards, requirements of rational organization and labor protection, and safety standards. Supervises the preparation of feasibility studies of the effectiveness of new design developments, their advantages over previously manufactured ones. He organizes the development of promising and current plans for the introduction and mastering of new equipment, design preparation of production, research and development work, and controls their implementation. It ensures the introduction of computer-aided design systems, the timely preparation, approval and approval of drawings and other technical documentation developed by design departments. Together with customers, it develops design specifications, provides protection and coordination of sketches, technical and working designs developed in the established manner, and submits design solutions for approval. Organizes storage in accordance with the current rules, reproduction and timely provision of production with drawings and other design documentation. Takes measures to reduce the development of new technology, cost and design cycle of production preparation by introducing advanced design methods, computing and telecommunications equipment, advanced methods of reproduction of technical documentation, widespread use in projects of standardized and unified parts and assembly units. He manages the research and experimental work carried out in the pilot production units. He organizes the manufacture of prototypes, their experimental verification, the testing of installation batches and the release of the first industrial series, striving to constantly improve the quality and reliability of products, the level of their manufacturability, environmental friendliness, reduce their cost, labor intensity and material intensity. Participates in the installation, testing, adjustment and commissioning of new designs of products. Provides architectural supervision of the manufacture of products and their operation. Submits for approval changes made to the technical documentation on the design preparation of production. Takes part in the work on product certification by quality categories, the development of proposals for reconstruction, technical re-equipment, production intensification, increase of its efficiency, provides the design development of rationalization proposals and inventions adopted for implementation. It reviews and provides feedback and conclusions on the most complex rationalization proposals, as well as on draft standards and other design documentation submitted to the enterprise from third-party organizations. Organizes work to improve the skills of workers engaged in design preparation of production. Manages department employees, directs and coordinates the activities of subordinate units.

3. Qualification requirements

Higher vocational (technical) education and experience of design work in engineering and management positions in the relevant profile of the enterprise in the industry for at least 5 years.
