1. General characteristics of the profession
A person who organizes the work of libraries, reference and bibliographic and scientific information services.
2. Official duties
It creates reference and information funds (CIF), makes their technical and scientific processing, studies the reader’s demand for literature, examines scientific and technical documentation, and compiles catalogs. Must know: the history of culture, Russian, Soviet and foreign literature, the course of library science, the principles of working with readers, the storage and use of scientific and technical documentation, to be able to raise interest in the book, to use technical means of library work, copying equipment, etc. Professionally important qualities: good memory, high communication skills, emotional stability, analytical thinking. Medical contraindications: nervous and mental diseases, allergic diseases, visual defects.
3. Qualification requirements
Institutes of culture, library institutions.
