1. Determine and compare the pH of the given solutions:

  • a) acetic acid and limewater;
  • b) ammonia and phosphoric acid.

2. Prove that the following solutions have, respectively, an acidic and an alkaline medium:

  • a) copper(II) chloride and potassium carbonate;
  • b) iron(II) sulfate and sodium acetate.

3. Determine which ions do not take part in the reaction between the solutions of:

  • a) copper(II) sulfate and sodium hydroxide; potassium carbonate and sulfuric acid;
  • b) iron(II) sulfate and sodium hydroxide; sodium carbonate and hydrochloric acid.

Explain in the direction of binding which ions each reaction proceeds.

4. Using the given reagents, carry out an experiment proving that the following ions cannot be simultaneously present in a solution:

  • a) Al3+ and Practical Work 2.1*. Solving experimental problems on the topic Solution Chemistry;
  • b) Fe3+ and Practical Work 2.1*. Solving experimental problems on the topic Solution Chemistry.
