The contour of the cylinder's own shadow is determined by two generators, in which the radial planes touch its side surface. To find the contour of the falling shadow, it is necessary to build the shadows of these generators and the shadow from the upper base of the cylinder.
To determine the contour of our own shadow of a right circular cone, we will draw two horizontally projecting radial planes, tangent to the surface of the cylinder and components with a frontal plane of projections an angle of 45 o .
Forming the AB and DM , in which the plane touches the cylinder, and the semicircles of the upper and lower bases determine the contour of its own shadow.
The falling shadow of the cylinder is limited by the shadow of the contour of its own shadow.
The shadows of the generators are constructed as the shadows of the vertical lines.
The lower semicircle coincides with the base of the cylinder and is located on a horizontal plane.
The upper semicircle is constructed as a shadow from a sector of a circle parallel to the horizontal plane.
