The direction of the light rays S is assumed to be parallel to the diagonal of the cube, whose three faces coincide with the planes of the projections P 1 , P 2 and P 3 of the left coordinate system. Such a direction of light rays corresponds to the direction of the sun's rays at midday in the middle latitudes of our country and is considered standard .
In order to obtain a light-and-white pattern, which reveals in the best way the volumetric relief and the configuration of a building or structure in axonometry, both standard and arbitrary directions of light rays are used.
