All drawing rules currently in force are reflected in the state standards (GOST) of the Unified Design Documentation System (ESCD), which takes into account many of the recommendations of international standardization organizations.
All standards envisaged by ESKD are divided into the following classification groups:
0 - general provisions;
1 - the main provisions;
2 - classification and designation of products in design documents;
3 - general rules for the implementation of drawings;
4 - rules for the implementation of drawings in mechanical engineering and instrument making;
5 - rules for handling design documents (accounting, storage, duplication, modification);
6 - rules for the implementation of maintenance and repair documentation;
7 - rules for the implementation of schemes;
8 - rules for the implementation of construction and shipbuilding documents;
9 - other standards.
In ESKD all standards have a certain structure of designations and names. For example, GOST 2.303-68 "Lines" means that the standard is included in the ESKD complex, which has been assigned the number 2, the standard number is 303 (3 is the code of the classification group, 03 is the serial number of the standard in the group), the year of registration is 1968, the name is "Lines".
The course of engineering graphics reflects the requirements of the standards included in groups 1, 2, 3, 4, 7.
It is quite clear that all ESKD standards are developed for industry and do not take into account the peculiarities of drawing drawings in educational institutions, therefore, when performing training drawings, some deviations from standards are allowed. When making drawings, it is necessary to be guided by the requirements established by the “Unified System of Design Documentation” for formats, basic inscriptions, scales, lines, fonts, etc.
