When constructing the shadow of a cone, a falling shadow is first built, with the help of which the contour of its own shadow is then determined
The construction of the own and falling shadows of a right circular cone, the base of which is located in the horizontal plane, is performed in the following sequence:
1. Determine the real or imaginary shadow from the vertex A on the horizontal plane of the projections.
2. From the horizontal projection of the obtained shadow we draw two straight lines tangent to the circumference of the base of the cone. The tangency points of these lines to the circumference of the base of the cone determine the position of the cone-forming, which are the contour of the cone's own shadow.
3. The smaller arc of the circumference of the base of the cone and the generators constructed define the contour of the falling shadow.
