Touching the brush

Lecture

Another study took place in the library. The librarian, passing the book to the reader, lightly touched his hand. At the exit, readers were asked about the impression left by a library visit. Those whose hands were touched by the librarian answered questions more favorably. In addition, they often remember the name of the librarian. Studies conducted in English supermarkets have shown that customers, whose hands the cashier touched, passing the change, showed a more positive customer reaction. A similar experiment was conducted in the USA. As you know, the income of waitresses is entirely dependent on the size of the tips they receive. Waitresses who lightly touched customers' elbows and brushes received a tip of 36% more than those girls who did not. Male waiters who touched customers received a tip of 22% more.
Next time, getting acquainted with a new person, during a handshake, stretch your left hand forward. Touch her shoulder or hand to her interlocutor, repeat his name to confirm that you have correctly remembered him, and observe the reaction of a new acquaintance. Your partner will immediately feel more significant if you emphasize that you want to remember his name.
Touching the elbow or hand, light and almost imperceptible, immediately attracts attention, emphasizes the significance of what has been said, increases your influence on the interlocutor, helps you to remember and makes a favorable impression.

Summary

No matter how you feel about this position, any crossing of the arms in front of the body is perceived as negative. This position has an impact on both interlocutors. Even if you just crossed your arms simply because your back hurts, the outsider will unconsciously feel that you are closed to his offers. We would advise to avoid such positions in every possible way, for which, apparently, you will have to practice a little. In subsequent chapters, we will talk about how to make a more positive impression and look in the eyes of the interlocutor a confident and authoritative person.
