We interviewed a person who came from abroad and got a job at our company. During the entire interview, this man sat with arms and legs crossed, used critical evaluative chains of gestures, practically did not use his palms, and often looked away. He was obviously worried about something, but at the initial stage of the interview we did not have enough information for a definite conclusion. We asked questions about his previous jobs at home. In answering, this man often rubbed his eyes and touched his nose. At the same time, he constantly looked away. We decided not to take the job, because his words clearly contradicted the signals of the body language. However, this man interested us, turned to the company where he worked before. Former employers have told us that he gave false information about his past. This person assumed that an employer from another country would not search for his former employment. If we didn’t pay attention to the signals of the body language, we would accept it to work and make a mistake.
