Hess conducted a small experiment in which participants were shown five photographs: a naked man, a naked woman, an infant, a mother with a baby, and a scenic area. As expected, the pupils of men expanded the most when they looked at a naked woman, homosexuals reacted most actively to the picture of a naked man, and women to the picture of a woman with a baby and a naked man.
