Lecture
In the 80s of the 20th century, so-called “laughter rooms” appeared in several American hospitals. Based on the experience of Norman Cusins and research conducted by Dr. Patch Adams, the doctors created rooms where they collected humorous books, comedy films, and audio tapes with recordings of speeches by famous humorists. Invited comedians and clowns often performed here. Patients performed in this room daily from 30 to 60 minutes. The result was impressive. The majority of patients showed a significant improvement in the condition. In addition, the hospitalization time was noticeably reduced. Laughter therapy sessions have significantly reduced the number of painkillers received by patients. Many have become easier to endure the pain. Today we can say that doctors take laughter very seriously.
He who laughs a lot lives longer. |
