Clearly parallel translation is defined as a transformation in which the points of one figure are displaced in the same direction by an equal distance.
Let there be an arbitrary point A (x; y) of the figure F and a point A` (x + a; y + b) of the figure F`. Parallel translation is a transformation of the figure F, in which any of its points with coordinates (x; y) goes to a point with coordinates (x + a; y + b), where a and b are the same for all points (x; y ).
