Overnight, new 100Ah Luxseon batteries swelled (they are no more than a month old)
what could be the cause
(the power was recently turned off) for an hour
could it be a voltage surge?
Gel batteries are extremely sensitive to elevated charge voltage; I believe for a 12-volt battery the maximum charge voltage is 14.8 V
that's why ONLY a UPS with microprocessor control should be used to charge gel batteries,
but in your case the unit responsible for voltage control has probably failed.... and the voltage was exceeded during charging
