Computer Keeps Restarting - Viruses or Faulty Hardware?

Computer keeps restarting constantly, is it viruses or is the hardware faulty?
recently, once every 15 minutes the computer restarts on its own, doesn't enter safe mode

it's probably a virus, you need to boot from a bootable antivirus disc - you won't be able to run an antivirus scan in the main system

hmm...
tried connecting a CD-ROM, the system reboots even before reaching the BIOS...

so it's a hardware problem...
I barely managed to check the motherboard's power monitoring - but strange -- everything's normal there in terms of voltages and fan tachometers

but listening closely I heard a characteristic crackling from the power supply... tried replacing it - all good!! ::biggrin24.gif::
