But why waste effort and time on that, when scientists, who have racked their brains over this problem for many years, have found the one correct solution.
Everything becomes obvious if you take the suffering of both subjects to the extreme and assess their chances of survival 
Obviously, in a critical situation clothing is easier to find than air. So if a person asks you to close the window, make sure he has a couple of oxygen tanks on hand.
