- • operate practically without the involvement of professional programmers;
- • provide informational support for decision-making on problems that cannot be defined in advance;
- • employ complex multidimensional and multifactor analysis and modeling tools.
A DSS consists of three components:
- • the software core and data warehouse;
- • analytical tools for processing, analyzing and presenting information;
- • telecommunication devices.
The data warehouse provides a unified environment for storing corporate data, organized into structures optimized for performing analytical operations. Analytical tools allow the end user, who has no special knowledge of information technology, to navigate and present information in terms of the subject domain. For users of various skill levels, the DSS offers various types of interfaces for accessing its services.
A DSS makes it possible to solve three main tasks:
- 1) analysis, in real time, of heterogeneous multidimensional information formalized to varying degrees;
- 2) subsequent intelligent analysis of the information, with the construction of models of how the current situation will develop;
- 3) maintaining reports.
