§ 13.2. Bibliographic information

Lecture

Bibliographic information is a system of data about
documents, created for the purpose of finding them.

Effective searching of scientific literature is not possible without
the use of current-awareness, abstract and review bibliographic information.

§ 13.2. Bibliographic information

Fig. 13.2. Typology of scientific and technical documents

Current-awareness bibliographic information is created with
the aim of notifying users of the document flow as promptly as possible and provides only a bibliographic
description of documents, sometimes a short reference annotation.
The current-awareness sources of bibliographic information on economic topics include [40]:
- the bibliographic publication of the State Scientific and Technical
Library of Ukraine «Index of Documents Received by the Republican Reference and Information Fund»;
- the bibliographic lists of the National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine «New Acquisitions in the Field of Social Sciences» (section
«Economics») and «Information on Legal and Economic Sciences»;
- the current thematic lists of new documents in the automated database of the reference and bibliographic service department of the V. I. Vernadsky Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Ukraine;
- the bibliographic index «New Literature on Social
and Humanities Sciences. Economics», prepared by the Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences
(INION RAS) (contains information on Russian, Ukrainian and foreign literature on demography and economic sciences).
Abstract bibliographic information reveals the content of the literature that is most significant from a scientific point of view and most relevant.
The abstract sources of bibliographic information on
economic topics include:
- the abstract collections of the department of scientific information on social sciences at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
- the abstract collections of the Ukrainian Institute of Scientific, Technical and Economic Information (UkrINTEI);
- the INION RAS abstract journal «Social Sciences and Humanities. Domestic and Foreign Literature. Economics»; the series
of INION RAS abstract collections «Problems of Economic Management», «International Economic Relations» and others;
246
246
- «Collection of Research Work Abstracts. Series 18. Economics», published by
the All-Russian Centre for Scientific and Technical Information;

of Scientific and Technical Information (VINITI);
- the «Current Contents» database, generated by the Institute for Scientific Information of the USA, which is received by the Institute for Information Recording Problems
of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Review bibliographic information is the most
complex, synthetic type of information, which makes it possible to identify the main trends and directions of development of a particular
science or problem.
The review sources of bibliographic information on economic topics include:
- review information of UkrINTEI;
- review information of VINITI;
- problem-thematic series of review information collections
of INION RAS, for example, «Problems of Economic Theory Abroad», «Economic Management» and others.
