Proportion is the equality of two relationships.
Consider two equal relationships:
Combining them with the equal sign, we get the proportion.
In proportion distinguish extreme and average members .
If the proportion is correct, that is, the relations that make up this proportion are really equal, then for the proportion the following is true:
The product of the extreme terms of a proportion is equal to the product of averages.
The rule above is called the basic property of proportion.
In order to properly apply the rule, we suggest you remember the rule (cross) of the "X".
Consider it on the example of proportion.
Make sure the proportion is correct.
Now write down the proportion and draw a cross over the equal sign with a pencil.
Having drawn a cross, it is much easier to compose the desired work (to fulfill the basic property of proportion).
