Properties of arithmetic roots

All properties of ordinary (integer) powers also extend to fractional powers.

Fractional properties

• When multiplying the same bases, the degrees of the numbers are added:

  
  

• When dividing the same bases, the degrees of the numbers are subtracted:

  
  

• When raising to the power of a number that is already in a power, the old power is multiplied with the new:

  
  
  

Root properties

There are many properties of roots, but we single out only two, since we consider them to be the most important.

  • The root of a fraction is the root of the numerator and the root of the denominator.
