A mechanic is a specialist engaged in the diagnostics, maintenance, repair and adjustment of mechanical systems, machines, equipment and vehicles. They ensure their proper functioning, safety and efficiency. A modern mechanic must be knowledgeable not only in mechanics, but also in electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics and technical documentation.
There are many specializations, including:
Auto mechanic — repair and maintenance of automobiles.
Mechanical engineer — design and development of mechanical assemblies.
Refrigeration equipment mechanic — maintenance of climate control systems.
Audio equipment mechanic — tuning and repair of audio equipment.
Industrial equipment mechanic — work with manufacturing machines.
Aircraft mechanic — maintenance of airplanes and helicopters.
Good vision and hearing.
No chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
Endurance: the work may involve lifting weights of up to 500 kg per shift.
The ability to work in awkward positions and conditions (heights, noise, vibration).
Technical thinking.
Attentiveness and precision.
The ability to make quick decisions in non-standard situations.
Stress resistance.
Responsibility — mistakes can lead to accidents.
Secondary vocational education — colleges and technical schools in the specialty of «mechanic», «mechanical technician».
Higher education — mechanical engineer, mechanical engineering, mechatronics.
Additional courses — professional development, certification for specific equipment.
Skills — reading blueprints, working with diagnostic equipment, knowledge of safety standards.
