1. General characteristics of the profession

Insurance specialist. Literally, "underwriter" means "signature on the risks." The underwriter describes, evaluates and qualifies the risk, forms the insurance portfolio.

2. Official duties

The obligations of the underwriter include vising insurance contracts on behalf of the insurer, accepting for insurance (reinsurance) proposed insurance risks, qualifying risks when taking insurance for a specific object or individual, determining tariff rates and specific conditions of an insurance contract, drawing up conclusions about the possibility (or impossibility) entering into an insurance contract under certain conditions, forming an insurance (reinsurance) portfolio. He is obliged to have knowledge in the field of risk assessment in personal and property insurance, to know the principles of building an insurance portfolio, legal aspects of insurance, financial stability of an insurance organization, budgeting, formation of insurance reserves, underwriting in reinsurance, loss settlement. An underwriter is a person whose literal signature is worth millions.
