Three-phase power at unbalanced load

Lecture

A three-phase circuit is a combination of three single-phase circuits; therefore, the active and reactive powers of a three-phase circuit are equal to the sum of the individual phases.

Active power:

  Three-phase power at unbalanced load

Calculated active capacity:

  Three-phase power at unbalanced load

Reactive power:

  Three-phase power at unbalanced load

Three-phase full power module:
Three-phase power at unbalanced load but the modules of full capacity cannot be summed up

Total power can only be determined in complex form.

  Three-phase power at unbalanced load

When connected by a triangle, we obtain respectively
