"Hooray, an update!" - the administrator thought, when Mozilla Thunderbird on his computer popped up the corresponding window.
"What is this nonsense!?" - the administrator thought after updating Thunderbird. And he still thinks it - not a single version of this mail client has ever brought a fix for their main flaw - the simply unimaginably slow interface. A slideshow on a not-too-weak machine, and not only in Thunderbird itself, but in all the windows that are open while working with this program - this is no joke.
So let's turn off this darn Aero, which this program uses so intensively, and does so shoddily (and for so many versions in a row!)
Oddly enough, there simply is no "Turn off this nonsense" checkbox in the settings. You'll have to go through several menus at once.
1) Click "Tools" -> "Add-ons"
2) In the tab that opens, choose "Get more themes and wallpapers" (either bottom right, or just at the bottom - depending on your computer's resolution).
3) In the list that opens, find a non-Aero theme you like and install it. To return to the pre-Aero Thunderbird look (familiar and not sluggish) - choose "Ignore Aero" or "Classic Reloaded".
That's it, Thunderbird's appearance returns to normal, but most importantly - the lag disappears like magic!
