When running long-running commands in Cisco you see a message like "Type escape sequence to abort". That is, "press the Esc sequence to interrupt". For example, you started a ping, and now you need to interrupt it.
Worse - if you run traceroute and it keeps hammering away and away, and you need to interrupt it. And pressing "Esc" doesn't help.
The thing is, the escape sequence is "Ctrl+Shift+6". Such a non-obvious sequence.
