When a material point M moves, its coordinate and radius vector change over time t.
Therefore, to specify the law of motion, m. you must specify either the type of functional dependence of all three of its coordinates on time:

The three scalar equations (1.2) or their equivalent single vector equation (1.3) are called the kinematic equations of motion of a material point.
