UNIVERSAL PREPARATION FOR WORK IN THE MEDIA SYSTEM

Lecture

There is an urgent need for universal preparation for work in the media system. There are many examples when a newspaperman went to work on a radio or television, a television employee went to a magazine or a newspaper, etc. Moreover, the rapid development of technical means leads to the fact that the skills of work, for example, a television director may be needed in a newspaper or magazine when preparing an electronic version of the publication or its advertising.

The emergence of new means of mass communication inevitably brings new tasks to practical journalism that require universal preparation. When working with multimedia, the knowledge and skills acquired in both print and audiovisual media are needed. A newspaper employee now often uses computer networks and monitors radio and television broadcasts. Quite often we can see an illustration in a newspaper, which is taken from a television screen. Printed appendices to television and radio programs and programs appeared, which on “hard” media supplement and clarify what was or will be broadcast. Facsimile newspapers, by their nature, resemble traditional publications, but are transmitted and received via radio. Behind all these innovations is a man, a journalist, who makes any innovation possible.

Of course, different media still require different work organizations, different qualities of a journalist. If you work exclusively on the Internet, then personal communication with colleagues is optional for you. Television, on the contrary, requires coordinated actions of a large team. A newspaper or magazine as an integral organism is also unthinkable without the collective work of the editorial staff, but the preparation of a specific work can be carried out individually. The radio journalist can single-handedly carry out, say, an on-air report, but he is very closely dependent on the people serving the equipment.

Modern practical journalism provides the broadest scope for the creative expression of the individual, but it also sets the highest criteria for the professionalism of everyone who has decided to associate his life and destiny with it.
