Lecture
This is one of the oldest genres, first of all - oral folk art. Present it without legends, epics, legends is hardly possible. Legends are the basis of many literary and artistic works. Legends are also an artistic-publicistic genre that actually exists in the press. What is the essence of this genre? As a rule, the main thing that is fixed when evaluating this genre is its content side. The content of the legend is usually associated with fiction. Indeed, it is hardly possible to imagine a legend on which the fantasy of its creators would not work. After all, it is well known that in the case when people cannot explain something with real reasons, they always start to “invent” them, i.e. to invent At the same time, it must be kept in mind that fiction alone is not enough to create a stable legend.
A good legend often enough contains some very real historical fact. Such are the legends of outstanding commanders, all sorts of heroes, miracle-workers, etc. Often the legend is “tied” not only to a specific person (s), but also to a particular place, area, event, or phenomenon.
Almost always the main (real or “industrial”) fact on which the legend rests is a kind of unsolved mystery. In the center of it is often a hero (or heroes) who has fallen into a tragic situation and, as a rule, died as a result of the circumstances, but with something constantly reminding himself to living people.
Such a legend is very close to a fairy tale.
What is the function of the legend in the press? Firstly, it serves readers entertainment. Secondly, such publications help the audience to penetrate into the world of ideal searches, romantics, poetry, which accompany even the most “coarse” types of human activity, complement the “prose of life”, help to comprehend the “delicate matter” of all sorts of legends connecting different generations. Therefore, the legend, to a certain extent, can be considered a source of knowledge. Legend can also serve as a warning to someone, someone can inspire bold actions, etc., i.e. it is, by virtue of the examples, edifications contained in it (like many other texts), it can be a more or less effective means of regulating a person’s practical activity and his behavior. The published legend can be used by the reader in order to communicate and discuss it with other people.
