Painting primitive peoples

Lecture

In primitive peoples rock art, three colors are most often found - white, black and red, which allows to make a conclusion about the special role of these flowers in the life of ancient people. As various researchers emphasize, the predominance of these paints cannot be explained, for example, by the ease of their extraction. The leading significance of these three colors is confirmed by the study of the magical rites of the primitive peoples of modern times living in Africa, South America, etc.
Observations on rituals and rituals of Ndemba, as well as conversations with members of the tribe, allowed V. Terner to describe in detail the symbolic meanings of the three "main" colors in the life of primitive man.

Ndembu associate these colors with the three rivers (entities) of one God, which they represent. The specific symbolic meanings of each color (river) are as follows.
