Это окончание невероятной информации про манипулирования сознанием.

which is not, or whether it is complete. Our logic is not flawless, and we are subject to various influences. Our emotions can deceive us. Our friends and everyone who thinks like us also have all these shortcomings. How can we be confident in our own rightness? It seems reasonable always to keep in mind the possibility that it is not your opponent who is mistaken, but you.

Attaching great importance to information

I observe this often. “Wanting to get to the bottom of things”, people scan various sources and “study the facts”. Then they defend their point of view very cogently. If you do not suffer from the same affliction, it is impossible to out-argue them; they really do possess the information and “floor” you with your ignorance of something “important”. And… after some time it turns out they are wrong. How can that be? To understand where the error crept in, let us recall the “emphasis” manipulation. In fact, all of us are prone to self-deception, for example by placing emphasis incorrectly in accordance with our own picture of the world. Let us recall the fake news that could also have been perceived as a worthy argument. Add to this the fact that they may belong to communities of people with a similar worldview.

I recall the political officers in the USSR. Some of them really did know a great deal. Their training allowed them to build convincing argumentation, with examples and details. Many were 100 percent certain of their own rightness. But then the myth collapsed, and it became obvious how distorted their interpretation had sometimes been.

We live in an ocean of information with an enormous amount of false and unreliable information. Many topics are highly charged emotionally. If your picture of the world is false and possesses a strong “cementedness”, then it is very hard for you to distinguish true information from false.

Emotional underdevelopment

We have already discussed that the more discrete our emotional perception is (in the limit, black-and-white), the more our “picture of the world” is subject to “cementing”, which in turn makes us vulnerable to manipulation. Therefore developed emotional perception is an important condition for your adequacy.

An undeveloped sense of harmony

If you love abstract painting, then you must understand how important this sense is when you are dealing with the chaos contained in an infinite number of variants of forms and colors. Because of the weakness of our IML we cannot take into account all facts, factors, and dependencies, and we effectively find ourselves in that same situation of chaos, and we need to choose the most “harmonious” interpretation.

CONCLUSION

There also exist a certain number of additional typologies and classifications showing the ways and methods of manipulating the mass psyche through the mass media, an enumeration of which would already be somewhat superfluous, and so we may consider the question to have already been adequately covered and understood. The conclusion to be drawn from studying the classifications of N. Chomsky and S.A. Zelinsky is that everyone should treat himself more attentively, and when any information reaches him, should engage reason first, rather than feelings, in order to analyze such information.

So, why is it so simple? Why do neither a good education, nor the availability of information, nor the ability to think well logically usually give us any serious advantages in defending against manipulation?

The answer turns out to be quite obvious. To withstand illusions one needs to be a comprehensively developed personality, and logic is only one aspect of this. Unfortunately, education does not help much either. Our education usually gives us only knowledge in our specialty and skills, but this is not enough. Manipulations are always an attack on our weak point. This is also the reason why arguments usually do not lead to anything positive. You try to explain something to your opponent logically (or he to you), but his problem (or yours) may lie in something else entirely, namely in emotions, or in a sense of beauty, or he continues to remain under the influence of fragments of a dead myth. And the more intelligent the person who is mistaken, the more skillfully he will defend himself, using his intellect and knowledge in the service of his delusion.
