Introductory knowledge check. Since this course is based on competencies acquired while studying the humanities disciplines of the artistic-creative cycle (history of musical art, aesthetics, world artistic culture), it is advisable to conduct a check of residual knowledge in these disciplines during the first session. Students should: - know the main theories of the origin, formation, and development of musical art; - know the main tenets and concepts of music theory, aesthetics, and art history; - command the conceptual apparatus of cultural studies and musicology; - possess well-developed skills and abilities in musical performance. Ongoing knowledge monitoring. Depending on the students' level of preparation and interest, both standard and innovative approaches can be used for introductory and ongoing knowledge monitoring. Since standard methods of testing knowledge are widely known, let us focus on the monitoring methods we have developed. Ongoing monitoring of students' performance and quality of preparation is carried out in the form of answers to questions and discussion of prepared presentations (papers), and qualitative checking of students' completed independent work, the requirements for which are given in the methodological recommendations for seminar sessions. Monitoring is conducted at seminar and practical sessions in order to obtain the information needed on students' adherence to the academic schedule, to assess the quality of the course material, the degree to which the learning objective has been achieved, and to encourage students' independent work. Interim certification of students is conducted in the form of a rating – based assessment, carried out in three stages in each of the three semesters.
