Shadow Brainstorming is a method of organizing the collective generation of new ideas, which is a kind of brainstorming (brainstorming) and developed primarily for use in the education and training of creative abilities.
Shadow brainstorming allows you to engage in the process of collective creativity of all participants in the process without restrictions. During a shadow brainstorming session, a group of 5–7 active idea generators is formed in the audience, which operates according to the rules of ordinary brainstorming. Of the remaining participants in the educational process, one or several groups of the “shadow cabinet” are formed (a competition can be organized between them). The generators of the "shadow cabinet" are following the progress of the work of active generators, perceiving AND fixing the ideas and solutions put forward by them, but not expressing their proposals aloud.
"Shadow" and active generators of ideas during a shadow brainstorming may be in the same or different rooms (in the latter case, the "shadow cabinet" monitors the progress of work of active generators on a video monitor).
In analyzing the results and development of the ideas put forward, well-known methods are attracted. This model has found wide application in schools of invention, it can be used in any audience.
