SIMULACRUM (in economic theory) — the phenomenon whereby economic goods acquire properties simulating genuine usefulness, and this simulative usefulness turns into the defining characteristic of the good. Simulacra in the economy are closely linked to the dominance of perverted economic forms that create a distorted picture of the content concealed behind them. The economic meaning of the production of simulacra lies in overcoming the limits of capital accumulation in the real sector of the economy.
