Copyright runs for the author's entire lifetime and 70 years after his death, save in certain cases. The right of authorship, the right to a name and the right to protection of the author's reputation are protected in perpetuity.
The author is entitled, in the same manner in which an executor of a will is appointed, to designate the person on whom he places responsibility for protecting the right of authorship, the right to a name and the right to protection of his reputation after his death. That person exercises his powers for life.
In the absence of such instructions, the protection of the right of authorship, the right to a name and the right to protection of the author's reputation after his death is carried out by his heirs or by a specially authorised body of the Russian Federation, which provides such protection if there are no heirs or if their copyright has terminated.
Copyright in a work disclosed to the public anonymously or under a pseudonym runs for 70 years after the date of its lawful disclosure to the public.
If, within the said period, the author of a work released anonymously or under a pseudonym discloses his identity or his identity ceases to be in doubt, the provision of the first sub-paragraph of paragraph 1 of Article 27 applies.
Copyright in a work created in co-authorship runs for the entire lifetime and 70 years after the death of the last surviving co-author.
Copyright in a work released to the public for the first time after the author's death runs for 70 years after its release.
Where the author was subjected to repression and rehabilitated posthumously, the term of protection of rights provided for by this Article begins to run from 1 January of the year following the year of rehabilitation.
Where the author worked during the Great Patriotic War or took part in it, the term of copyright protection provided for by this Article is extended by 4 years.
The calculation of the terms begins on 1 January of the year following the year in which the legal fact occurred that constitutes the ground for the commencement of the running of the term.
