The focusing illusion: by linking the achievement of happiness to some event in the future, people often concentrate on it completely, forgetting the hundreds of other ways events may develop. Examples of the subconscious use of the focusing illusion..

If I became the director of a company, I would be a wealthy person; however, this may lead to psychological pressure on oneself.

In reality, however, dozens of other events may happen, with unpredictable consequences, both negative and positive.

So all this concentration is a pointless waste of energy and time; it is better not to fixate on events in the future, but to appreciate and make proper use of what you already have and to feel happy here and now
