Lecture
We live in a time when science fiction writers are struggling to keep up with the times. In recent years, there has been a rapid growth of research and experimentation in the field of creativity and artificial intelligence. Almost every week a new bot appears that draws, writes stories, composes music, designs objects or builds houses. Do artificial intelligence systems perform creative tasks? At the beginning of our study, we decided to learn more about this phenomenon and experiment with it a little. The result was a deep investigation, which we called “Creative IIA”. This is an introductory article: we consider the history of Creative AI and define terminology that will be useful to us for further study. Initially, we assumed that creativity (that is, creation of a new one) is the main engine of the history of mankind and that at present it is developing in rather interesting ways. In this article, we structure our knowledge of creativity and technology.
Introduction DIGITAL DESIGN & CONSULTING COMPANY We will also focus on the recently developing “new creation patterns” (the term “generating patterns” is used in software development): assisted creativity and generative creativity, and also prove that they lead to democratization and escalation creativity.
The goal of this project is to define a set of fundamental principles, metaphors and ideas on which the development of Creative AI, new theories, experiments and practical applications are based. To begin with, we will look at history and technology, set out all of this in the form of a story, and form a vision of the future in which Creative IN helps us maximize human potential.
Creativity is a central element of human existence and in everyday life it takes many different forms. However, the definition of creativity is quite difficult. In this section, we will selectively touch on the historical, theoretical and technological metaphors of creativity that are relevant to Creative IN
Creativity DIGITAL DESIGN & CONSULTING COMPANY The ideas of ancient people (including thinkers of ancient Greece, China and India [1]) about creativity were very different from modern ones. They viewed creativity as a form of discovery. The rejection of creativity in favor of discovery was observed in Western culture until the times of the Renaissance. By the 18th century, creativity is mentioned more and more, in close connection with such a concept as “imagination” [2]. At the end of the 19th century, theorists — such as Wallace, Wertheimer, Helmholtz, and Poincare — began to describe and publish their creative processes: it was they who initiated the scientific investigation of creativity.
The scientific study of creativity in the 20th century gave rise to many theories, models and systems: philosophical, sociological, historical, technical and practical. And although it is still difficult to give an objective description of creativity, the systematic study of creativity and the factors that trigger it stimulates new creative processes in advertising, architecture, design, fashion, film and music.
Science, technology and creativity have a long, closely intertwined history. In the study of creativity, it is important to decide which metaphors to study and which not. We will study three metaphors: enhanced creativity, computer creativity and creative systems.
