A shunt (parallel) excited DC motor: the field winding is connected in parallel with the armature and fed from the same voltage. The flux depends only weakly on load, so the speed changes little from no-load to rated — an almost stiff characteristic. The model shows the torque M, the speed n (rpm) and the direction of rotation. With zero voltage or current the motor does not rotate.
