A separately (independently) excited DC motor: the field winding is fed from its own supply and is electrically isolated from the armature. The flux is set by the field current independently of load, giving a stiff speed characteristic and convenient speed control. In this circuit the armature and the field winding are connected to separate voltage sources. The model shows the torque M, the speed n (rpm) and the direction of rotation; removing the armature voltage stops the rotation.
