6.1. Security Tools in Windows OS

Lecture

  • 6.1.1. Resource Access Control
  • 6.1.2. CryptoAPI Windows OS
  • 6.1.3. Audit

It makes sense to talk about the security subsystems of the Windows OS family starting with NT / 2000 / XP / Vista, since these generations of the Microsoft operating system include a reliable security subsystem as one of the conceptual foundations of the system. Earlier versions (Windows 95.98) were targeted at home computers and did not implement most of the security features of the Windows platform.

For security, Windows allows you to: identify network users and control their access to resources, encrypt information using the built-in CryptoAPI encryption tools, maintain secure communication over public networks using IPSec protocols, authenticate users using Kerberos version 5 authentication protocol and via smart cards , to delimit access to files and directories using file systems NTFS and EFS.
