I drew a cocoon on a tree, and I think it turned out pretty cool. First, I made the trunk—it's brown, with rough lines to look like real bark. The branches extend outward, slightly crooked, as if the tree is old and has weathered many storms.
On one of the branches, I drew a cocoon. It hangs as if attached by cobwebs or something sticky. The cocoon itself is light gray, with barely noticeable veins, to suggest something is happening inside. I intentionally made it slightly transparent to hint that a butterfly or some other creature is developing inside. This adds a touch of mystery.
There are leaves all around, but not too many so as not to distract from the cocoon. I added a bit of light—as if a ray of sunlight is shining through the canopy and illuminating the cocoon. It looks atmospheric, even a little magical.
I like that the drawing turned out not just like a picture, but like a moment in nature. It’s like you watch and imagine that soon a butterfly will fly out of the cocoon and a new story will begin.
