Distributed databases Lecture 20. Distributed databases

Lecture

The main task of distributed database management systems is to provide a means of integrating local databases located in some nodes of the computer network so that a user working in any network node has access to all these databases as a single database.

This should provide:

  • ease of use of the system;
  • the possibilities of autonomous operation in cases of network connectivity or administrative needs;
  • high degree of efficiency.
