Central stretching (compression) is called such a type of deformation, in which only a transfusional force (tensile or compressive) arises in the cross section of the beam, and all other internal forces are zero. (Fig.2.1) |

The longitudinal force is the internal force that occurs between the individual parts of an element under the action of an external vulture (central compressive or central tensile). |
To determine the longitudinal force, the section method is used. Stretching is indicated by plus (+), compression by minus (-). (Fig.2.2). |
